Working man of the steeps

Joonas Mattila is a Finnish cinematographer who works in the mountains filming freeskiers. There are just a few Finns doing this kind of work. I had the opportunity to follow mr. Mattila on his working trip in Northern Norway. We ventured 8 kilometers into a remote valley, skied some knee-deep powder next to a glacier, dug snow caves for the night and skied a big mountain face the next day. A lot of work, especially for Joonas. Helsingin Sanomat published a longer story, in Finnish.

Joonas Mattila having an off-day, where else than in the mountains. “It’s nice to ski with a light backpack, easier to cruise a bit.”
